From the Analects of Confucius, to the Wisdom literature of Hebrew Scripture to the Christian embrace of the Sophia, the Greek Goddess of wisdom, to the Anansi stories from Africa: the ancestors have given us much to ponder. Some of it is clearly past its expiration date. Some of it is timeless. And it has already been 175 years since Walt Whitman advised us to: “Re-examine all we have been told… and dismiss whatever insults your own soul.” Jane and Tricia Anderson will also speak.
