“Saying No to the Line 3 Pipeline and Yes to Life”

In early May, USNH member Melinda Tuhus traveled to northern Minnesota with other elders to answer the call of indigenous women leaders there to come and stand with them to stop Line 3, a tar sands pipeline from Alberta, Canada. We learned about colonialism and the impact that Line 3 would have on the water resources and sacred wild rice of the Anishinaabe people. I was part of a group that blocked access to the out-of-state workers’ camp for a day. The service will include the voices of some of the elders as well as two of the indigenous leaders at the camp.
