“The Fragile Art”

This year’s “auction sermon” was born in a lunch I recently had with Becky Friedkin.  We mutually talked of many interesting and provocative topics for me to tackle, but after some time, what emerged was a simple, and daunting challenge–a sermon on forgiveness.

There may be no topic more difficult, because there is no spiritual discipline more difficult than simple forgiveness.  But as hard as it is to do, it turns out that living without it is even worse–it is the highest and most important art to practice, because it turns out that life without forgiveness, given or received, is a moral desert.  It’s that important.
