“The Memorial for Peace and Justice”

On April 26, 2018, the Memorial for Peace and Justice opened to the public in Montgomery, Alabama. It is part of the work of the Equal Justice Initiative, whose website describes it in these words:  “The Memorial for Peace and Justice provides a sacred space for truth-telling and reflection about racial terrorism and its legacy.” Worship leader Jim Peters will reflect on a recent visit to the Memorial, and on the work of the EJI in Montgomery.

Special Message from the Worship Committee

Dear friends,

This week’s worship service focuses on the Memorial for Peace and Justice in Montgomery, Alabama — known informally as the Lynching Memorial. The service includes videos produced by the Equal Justice Initiative, the creative force behind the memorial. These videos contain images that reflect the brutality of lynching. While not overly graphic, we want people to be aware in advance of the subject matter of this service.
Sincerely, The USNH Worship Committee
