“Mac” MacIntyre (Peter Riegert) is the acquisition manager for a large Texas oil company. His boss, the company owner Felix Happer (Burt Lancaster), sends him to a remote corner of Scotland to make a purchase (at the expense of the local residents) of the land in and around a bucolic village for oil production and refining operations.

It turns out that the locals are not as unsophisticated as the Texans perceive them to be. The result is surprising to everyone involved.

This charming comedy  will turn inside out any expectations an audience might have about the final outcome.
