Sundays at USNH
Sunday Worship & Community
Sunday mornings at the Unitarian Society of New Haven (USNH) offer a welcoming Unitarian Universalist worship service and time to connect with a caring, inclusive community.
Services include music, reflection, and shared ritual, drawing on Unitarian Universalist values and wisdom from many sources. If walking into a new congregation feels daunting, you’re not alone. Whether you arrive full of faith, full of questions, or somewhere in between, you are welcome just as you are.
After the service, we gather for Social Hour, a relaxed time to enjoy refreshments and conversation. Whether you stay briefly or linger, it’s an easy way to meet people and experience community life at USNH.
Music at USNH
Music is at the heart of worship at USNH, enriching our services and strengthening our community. Led by our outstanding music staff, Sunday services typically include a choral anthem and congregational singing, drawing from a wide range of musical traditions, with special choral works woven into worship a few times each year.
Music at USNH is something to share as well as to enjoy. New singers are welcome in the choir, a folk-singing group gathers twice monthly, and the Sundays at 4 recital series features professional musicians in concerts that are open to the wider community.
If you enjoy singing or making music, you’ll find many ways to participate — and if you prefer to simply listen, that’s welcome too.
Children & Youth on Sundays
Children and youth are an important part of Sunday mornings at USNH. Children typically begin the morning with their families in worship and then head to Religious Exploration (RE) classes or to Children’s Chapel, which is offered monthly. Nursery care, staffed by trained and background-checked caretakers, is available for younger children.
Our RE program offers age-appropriate, engaging experiences that help children explore values, build friendships, and learn what it means to be a Unitarian Universalist. Through stories, discussion, creativity, and play, children are encouraged to ask big questions, grow in confidence, and develop a sense of belonging.
If you’re visiting with your family, please know that children’s energy and curiosity are a valued part of our congregation.

"Our USNH community opens my mind and spirit to the gift of living in love."
